Three Water Lines for Basel
Three lines tracing Basel's streams - their visible, hidden or no longer existent parts, were marked on Basel's streets, along its streams, and across its parks and industrial areas - created during Architekturwoche Basel, these lines were part of the "Cyclical Tales" project / "Trouvailles" format that was organised by the architecture office Truwant + Rodet +. While the performances are over, lines (blue, green and red) are going to be present in urban space a bit longer, drawing attention to the city's complex ecosystems and its historical layers.
BLUE LINE
The BLUE line follows the Bachgraben stream as we can imagine it flowing from the area of the newly developing life-sciences campus in Allschwil all the way to the Novartis campus on the Rhein. We follow this line in the other direction, and start at the place where, one late afternoon in May, a temporary fountain marked the historical confluence of the Bachgraben and the Rhein.
