BASEL FAMILY WALK Meet Vogel Gryff, Basilisk, Lälle König and friends
Saturday 29 Sept 2012 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meeting point: Mittlere Brücke on the Klein Basel side, next to Helvetia sculpture
During this walk we look at sculptures, murals and stone carvings that depict mythical creatures and tell us more about Basel’s history. We start at the foot of Helvetia, walk along the Rhine to the Basilisk fountain and look at Vogel Gryff, Leu and Wilde Maa painted high up on one of the houses. We take the ferry to cross the river, climb up to the Pfalz and observe medieval elephants carved out of stone on the Münster’s curved back. Inside this church’s enchanted darkness, we search for a scary Fire-Drake, a friendly dog and a mighty eagle. At the Rathaus, we examine the colorful world of characters that tell stories of the times past. The tour ends at the Schifflände where one fresh Lälle König rolls its eyes to fare us goodbye.
For parents and kids KG - G5. Includes ferry crossing and a comic book / work book created specially for this tour.
Cost: 45 ChF / 30 ChF
